Supervisors Reject 5-0 Villas de Carmelo Project

LandWatch is so pleased to announce that this past Tuesday the Board of Supervisors soundly rejected the Villas de Carmelo project which was proposed right outside the city of Carmel on Highway 1 at the old convalescent hospital site. This 46 unit condo complex on 3 acres was far too large for the site, would not provide any meaningful affordable housing, would have added more traffic to the already congested Hwy 1 between Carpenter and Carmel Valley Road, and had no long term sustainable water supply. Furthermore, the city of Carmel is opposed to the project. You can read more about the project at:

Because of the hard work of the concerned neighbors and LandWatch, the Supervisors did the right thing and rejected this proposal. Congratulations to the activists for their years of work on this effort. LandWatch hopes a new proposal for the site will surface, one that the community can support.
