Dear Friends,
We are thrilled to announce that because of your generosity, LandWatch ranked third in monies raised out of 70 non-profits in the Monterey County Weekly GIVES! grant. Our supporters donated $73,607 through the campaign, and we wish to thank our donors for their gifts! Financially supporting LandWatch helps ensure that the economic and environmental vitality of this great county is protected. We also want to thank the Monterey County Weekly for choosing LandWatch to be a part of the fundraiser. It was and is truly an amazing opportunity!
LandWatch has a big year ahead of us. We are making a strong effort to ensure that the newly adopted Monterey County General Plan is implemented in a way that reflects the sound land use policies needed to protect our quality of life. We are cautiously optimistic that the hard-won policy gains in the new General Plan (GPU 2010) can be preserved. Developing the new General Plan was an exhausting twelve-year battle and writing the regulations to implement it could take many more years. With the financial support of members like you, LandWatch Monterey County will continue to follow the implementation process of GPU 2010, in addition to all other matters related to land use in the county.
