The Board of Directors of LandWatch Monterey County has endorsed
the California Wild Heritage Campaign. The California Wild Heritage
Campaign is seeking to provide official Wilderness designation,
and Wild and Scenic River protection, for California's remaining
public lands and rivers.
LandWatch is urging its members and friends to write to Senator
Barbara Boxer, and to United States Representative Sam Farr, asking
them to support this important effort. Their contact information
is below.
In Monterey County, the California Wild Heritage campaign is seeking
to add 54,722 acres to the federal wilderness system, including
all of the following:

| 13. Chews Ridge |
1,200 acres

| 14. Anastasia Canyon |
1,900 acres
|
In addition, the Campaign wants to provide permanent protection
for the four following rivers:
- Arroyo Seco River
- Little Sur River
- Carmel River
- Tassajara Creek
