MARINA SEEKS APPLICANTS TO FILL VACANCIES
The City is seeking interested Marina residents to fill vacancies
on the Planning Commission and City Services & Improvement Commission
expiring February 2002. However, the term will automatically be
extended to February 2004. Applicants must be electors (registered
voters) of the City of Marina. Interested applicants may obtain
an application from the Office of the City Clerk at 211 Hillcrest
Avenue, Marina California.
Filing deadline/hr commission is no later than 3:00 p.m., Friday,
September 7, 2001. Interviews will be conducted the week of September
11, and Council appointment September 18. 2001.
The City Services and Improvement Commission 2nd Monday of each
month and acts as an advisory body to the City Council on matters
pertaining to City Services and Improvement of residential and commercial
areas.
The Commission develops programs to further the improvement in
the appearance of the community. Activities include an annual City
clean-up week. the recognition of residential and commercial properties.
which are well maintained, and encouraging the exhibition of American
Flags on the Fourth of July and other patriotic days.
The Commission also initiates and supports activities, which clean
and beautify the community such as graffiti removal programs, monthly
litter clean-up days and special projects that improve the appearance
of the community on public and private properties.
At the specific request of the City Council or the City Manager,
the Commission may review and make recommendations regarding the
delivery of City services. The review of service delivery is coordinated
between the Commission and the City Manager.
The Planning Commission meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each
month and serves as an advisory body to the City Council regarding
the overall coordination of land use in the City and shall specifically
perform those duties described in the Ordinances and Codes of the
City. The Design Review Board serves as an advisory body to the
Planning Commission regarding architectural design in the City.
