Help Build A Better Community:
Three Action Steps For You To Take

On November 6th, you have an opportunity to a build a better community by voting in the election. Here?s what we ask that you do:

  1. Email your friends?and neighbors asking them to support LandWatch?s positions on three ballot measures. Or, simply forward this email.

  2. Ask those same friends and neighbors to subscribe to LandWatch?s free e-newsletter. We make that easy since you can?sign up on our website.

  3. VOTE on November 6!? Need to find your polling place??Visit the Monterey County Registrar of Voters website.

After extensive research LandWatch has taken positions on two local and one statewide measure:

  • Support Measure M, which would limit short-term rentals in Pacific Grove.? This measure prevents commercialization of neighborhoods and loss of long-term rental housing.?Learn more about Measure M.

  • Support Measure J, which requires a feasibility study of a public buyout of California American Water (CalAm), and, if found to be feasible, a public takeover.? Water from CalAm?s oversized desalination plant will cost too much, has more environmental impacts, and uses too much energy. This drives the price up. A public entity would be more likely to provide water at the lowest cost.?Read my op-ed to learn more. ?

  • Oppose Proposition 6, a statewide ballot measure to repeal the gas tax undermine public transportation. Without the gas tax, fewer local roads would be repaired and public transit would suffer. There would be fewer Monterey County bus routes; fewer bike and pedestrian projects; and more cars on overcrowded roads.?Learn more about Proposition 6?s impacts on Monterey County.

Remember your vote counts?from ballot measures to elected officials, they all play a significant role in our individual and collective quality of life. Thank you for helping LandWatch build better communities!
