LandWatch Calendar of Events

The LandWatch Community Events Calendar is intended to keep LandWatch members and friends up to date on important meetings and activities involving land use policy. LandWatch wants to help spread the word about such meetings, so if you know of an upcoming event that we don’t already have on our calendar, please send us the pertinent information. We often send LandWatch members alerts about important meetings, and we post our calendar on the LandWatch website.

LandWatch also welcomes the opportunity to speak before community groups and in public forums throughout Monterey County. If you know of a group that would like to hear a LandWatch presentation, please call LandWatch Executive Director Chris Fitz, at 831-422-9390, Ext. 10, or contact him by email at: .

LandWatch “Around the County” Monterey Event
Towards Sustainable Transportation in Monterey County
LandWatch Monterey County is excited to offer a speaker series this year on sustainable transportation and Senate Bill 375. SB 375 seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in California by encouraging transit-oriented development and walkable communities. Our first speaker is Debbie Hale, the Executive Director of the Transportation Agency of Monterey County. She will explain how her agency works to make transportation in the region more sustainable, the obstacles to that effort, and how the public can help out. Debbie will also touch on the new state requirements for “sustainable community strategies” under Senate Bill 375, and the realities that are both helping and hindering that effort. LandWatch is very interested in this legislation and TAMC activities and we invite you to join us! The event will be held in downtown Monterey at Montrio Bistro.

Mark your calendars! Please plan to attend.
